The Nigerian Student Fashion And Design Week season 4 is finally around the cornerwith Wema Bank coming onboard as the lead sponsor. The two days event is scheduled to hold on the 12th and 13th of August at the Indoors Hall of the University of Lagos and the event is expected to unveil 30 emerging fashion designers who are set to dazzle us all. The event is also supported by Zaron Cosmetics as official makeup partner, Myhair limited as the official hair partner, Tolumi Fashion People and Zinsu Tech, Nigeria’s leading distributor of industrial and domestic sewing machine.

We bring to you some student designers to look out for at this edition.

ADEBOWALE SHOKUNBI (LE SHOKS)- COVENANT UNIVERSITY
nsfdw
Adebowale is a Covenant University undergraduate for whom looks are a priority. This has contributed enormously to his love for fashion and also to the discovery of his abilities to excel in the fashion industry.

Before stepping out, his ensemble had to be perfect! He took this inclination to the next level, garnered some training in fashion designing and subsequently released a maiden collection, ”THE LURE” in 2015 which served as a launch pad for his brand, Le Shoks.

Adebowale has worked as a style director at a company’s shoot for social media celebrity Craze Clown and also on a movie which is yet to be released.

He intends to show the audience at the Nigerian Student Fashion And Design Week that regardless of the economic situation, anyone could make a difference in their environment with God, determination and courage which is the inspiration behind the choice of ”LE VALOR” as the name for his collection at this year’s NSFDW.

For him, his academics are a major challenge because they hinder him from exploring his Fashion tendencies. He hopes to use the NSFDW to create more awareness and publicity for his brand.

BALOGUN BOLUWATITO (DEBEEBLU)- COLLEGE OF MEDICINE, UNIVERSITY OF LAGOS
BOLU
Boluwatito is a 600 level medicine and surgery student at the College of Medicine University of Lagos and she is the creative director of the DEBEEBLU brand. One may wonder how a medical student finds time for fashion designing. Unlike many designers who had their family members as fashion designers and derived their inspiration from them, for Bolu it was different.

The vision for her clothing line started in the year 2012 when she found herself constantly sketching designs as she loved drawing and sketching, she later made up her mind she wanted to know all about fashion. She got some form of informal training from other designers, tailors, friends and the internet. She showcased her 2nd collection at the TORQUE concert in 2014. She is a passionate dancer, which is her reason for dealing strictly with dance wear designs when she officially unveiled her fashion label in the year 2015. She was rated last month as one of the ‘’ Top 10 New Female Fashion Proteges In Nigeria’’ an online publication released by leading fashion promoting company BlackNBold Fashion House.

For Bolu, one of her major challenges is finance and recruiting people to help with the work. “As a medical student it’s not so easy but I have learnt to manage my time well and with others helping it makes the work easier”, she said.
The DEBEEBLU brand will be releasing their first dance collection ‘Amor Choro’ at this year’s edition of Nigerian Student Fashion and Design Week.

OGUNUKU TAMARADOUBRAH & OJO SAMUEL (EBIBIDE)- CRAWFORD UNIVERSITY
EBIBIDE
When you talk about the perfect duo, you think of OGUNUKU TAMARADOUBRAH and OJO SAMUEL as the pair to beat.  They are the creative directors of the EBIBIDE brand, a fast growing fashion label at the Crawford University where they are presently studying.

Tamara is a student of Economics, a fashion illustrator and a photographer while Samuel, who also happens to be an Economics student, is a fashion blogger and a writer.  Their brand, EBIBIDE, is a perfect blend of couture and urban style with traditional spice.

Fashion started for this duo when people sought their opinion on Fashion ideas
like piecing outfits and on shopping, and it was from there that they expanded to selling outfits
and eventually ventured into making their own outfits which will fully showcase their prowess in the fashion industry.

The journey so far in the Fashion industry for this pair has been fun, stressful and satisfactory at the same time. They intend to whet our appetite at the Nigerian Student Fashion & Design Week (NSFDW) with a promise to showcase a collection of artistic ‘Never-before-seen’ clothing designs. Their collection for the highly anticipated event is named ”CULTURE EN NOIR ET BLANC” which is inspired by the colours black and white with a feel of ethnicity.

AKINTILO DAVID ATOMISE (RIPPED)-  CALEB UNIVERSITY
AYOMIDE AKINTILO (2)David, who is the brain behind the brand ‘RIPPED’ is a model, photographer and an undergraduate of Caleb University. RIPPED is one of the most famous student-owned fashion lines in Caleb University.  Like many other designers, fashion designing started for this young designer at an early age in life.

Growing up with different fashion enthusiasts around has inspired him to go on and create his own fashion brand. He will be unveiling the ”RIPPED” collection at NSFDW 2016 where he intends to stun the audience, publicize his brand and also emerge as the most creative designer of the year. We look forward to this collection at the event.
