Last week, news broke that an American tourist, Katherine Chappell was attacked by a lion at Lion Park in in South Africa's Gauteng province.
Now, a photograph has emerged showing the lioness which has its paws against the car as it presumably mauled the late Chappell.
Until her death, 29-year old Chappell a visual-effects engineer who had worked on such movies as "Godzilla," "Divergent" and "Captain America: The Winter Soldier."
She was also part of the Scanline VFX team that won an Emmy for its work on an episode of the 4th season of "Game of Thrones."
Chappall,
who was in South Africa on a volunteer mission to protect wildlife, was
taking photos of a pride of lions at Lion Park when one of the animals
leaped up against the vehicle and fatally attacked her.
Her guide, 66-year old Pierre Potgieter sustained injuries as he tried to ward the lion off, suffering a heart attack in the process. She however survived the ordeal.
There are strict rules against opening windows at the park which Scott Simpson, assistant operations manager at Lion Park affirmed.
According to him,
"There are numerous signs, and we hand out slips of paper to all guests warning them to keep their windows closed."
Details of the incident are still emerging as there are accounts that Chappell had her windows down as she took photos.
Investigations are reportedly underway, meanwhile a memorial service for Chappell was held Saturday in her hometown of Rye, New York.
