Ne-Yo went on a Twitter rant today about old gay rumors and Caitlyn Jenner. The
two topics aren’t related, although he cleared up the gossip over his
sexuality, in the midst of commenting on Jenner’s transformation.
“U should all know by now not to believe everything you read,” wrote Ne-Yo. “Much luv to #CaitlynJenner but I'm not on that team. Not gay folks. So sorry.”
Ne-Yo’s intention wasn’t to offend, so he followed up with an explanatory tweet. “No disrespect to the gay community or to #CaitlynJenner by the way. Live your life and be proud. I'm just not gay. We're still on this? #sad.”
The rant kept moving when someone
tweeted throwback photos of the singer-songwriter, to counter his
argument. “We need answers,” read the tweet.
“You want answers?” Ne-Yo replied. “Bad pics taken because i listened
to photographers I shouldn’t have. Soooo bad pictures make me gay?”
Next he retweeted a comment about the media’s preoccupation with Jenner’s story, as opposed to Akon’s efforts to bring solar power to communities in Africa.
Then he took the rant to Instagram.
The father of two posted a meme criticizing America’s obsession with
Jenner and the Kardashians, versus other “things in the news to keep up
with,” like the number of police who have killed unarmed people this
year and a “Pentagon report that shows that the U.S. created ISIS.”
The meme concludes: “If you are only keeping up with the Kardashians, you are part of the problem.”
